On October 7, 2022, in the building of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, an information event was held, dedicated to the future of microelectronics and the qualification of the workforce.
Member of the European Parliament Eva Meidel presented to the event participants a European legislative act on chips, and Ivaylo Kalfin from Eurofound spoke about the future of the labor market. Among the topics discussed were also supply chains and workforce skills, as well as microelectronics jobs and careers.
Career opportunities in the field of microelectronics are presented by Yonko Chuklev from the Professional Association for Robotics and Automation, Nevena Peleva from Melexis Bulgaria, Galina Stavreva and Vladimir Stavrov from AMG Technologies, as well as Nikol Georgieva from LEM.
Representatives of educational institutions are also included in the discussion: Prof. Slavka Tsanova from Technical University of Sofia, Prof. Plamen Tsankov from Technical University of Gabrovo, Elitsa Tsoneva and Georgi Germanov from "Thomas Edison" Secondary School; Elena Dinchiyska, Lyubomira Valkova, Dimitar Meshev, Martin Dinov and Kristiyan Zhelyazkov from "PGEE - Plovdiv in the world of microelectronics", as well as Mariana Bandova, Georgi Boyadzhiev and Samuil Zlatarev from Haycad Academy.
The event is held as part of the ECoVEM project, financed by the Erasmus+ program and implemented by 21 partners from 7 countries, including the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce. The ECoVEM project brings together Vocational Education and Training (VET) centres, technical universities, industrial associations, social partners to create a European platform for collaboration between professional excellence in microelectronics to address the challenges of digitalisation, artificial intelligence, green technologies and many others.
